APR 19, 2020: HARROP, BC – Land Social at ZeroFox Farms

Join Young Agrarians on April 19th in Harrop, B.C., for a Land Social at ZeroFox Farms. If you’re curious about what land matching and sharing is all about, join us for an event all about land!

We’ll be gathering to tour a new farm where edible perennial trees and shrubs, as well as medicinal herbs, are grown. We’ll chat about land sharing and starting a new farm in the Kootenays through the B.C. Land Matching Program! Afterwards, we’ll get together on the lawn for a lakeview community potluck to celebrate the start of farming and gardening season.

From the initial inquiry, conversation and site visit to introduction and negotiation meetings, the land matching process provides hands-on, personalized support to land seekers and owners. Over 300 land seekers and landowners are now registered with the BCLMP across the province. There are 480 listings for land opportunities and farmers looking for land on the Young Agrarians U-Map. If you’re looking for land or someone to share your land with for their farm dream, check it out!

Where: 847 Lewis Road, Harrop, B.C.

When: Sunday, April 19th, 10 am – 2 pm

What to bring: Please bring water, warm clothes, sturdy shoes,  a dish to share for the potluck, a plate and tools to eat with, and a chair or a blanket.

This event is free and open to everyone! The whole family is welcome but please leave your fury friends at home! Parking is available at the top of Lewis Road, down the road on the right (Ricco Rd.). We’ll be gathering at the corner of Lewis and Ricco Roads to start the social.

ABOUT ZEROFOX FARMS

ZeroFox Farms is owned and operated by Krista, an enterprising farmer who found land through the B.C. Land Matching Program. The farm is heading into its second growing season on the leased land in Harrop thanks to the generosity of Ursula and Barry, the landowners participating in the program who have been integral members of their community for decades!

Coming to the end of their initial lease period, both Krista and the landowners will renew the land agreement so that Krista can continue developing her farm dream on land just minutes away from where she lives with her family.

• Not sure what to bring to the potluck? Consider supporting your local, organic farmer and/or food producer and find inspiration with their ingredients. Also, it is greatly appreciated if you can include a little card with the ingredients list for your dish in case people have food allergies/sensitivities

Through the B.C. Land Matching Program, Young Agrarians is offering support to farmers looking for land for their farm business and landowners looking for farmers to farm their land. The Columbia Basin Land Matcher will be attending the event to answer any questions about accessing land through this program.
